A lot more women become St Andrews members

Golf has been played on the links of St Andrews considering that the 15th century

Canada’s Marlene Stewart Streit and American Judy Bell are the latest girls to turn out to be honorary members of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.

Stewart Streit, 81, is the only player to win the British, Canadian, US and Australian women’s amateur titles, and Bell, 79, was a Curtis Cup captain.

In September 2014 the Royal and Ancient voted to permit ladies members for the initial time in its 260-year history.

In February, the Princess Royal became 1 of the 1st girls to join.

Along with Stewart Strait and Bell, a further eight ladies have also turn into members of the club.
